Heritage Volunteering Conference 2026
Save the date: Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th November
The HVG Conference 2026 brings together colleagues from across the heritage sector for two days of learning, connection, and sector‑wide inspiration.
This year’s theme, ‘From Passion to Purpose: Volunteer Engagement in a Changing World’, explores what effective volunteer engagement looks like today and how we deepen the impact volunteers make across heritage organisations.

In the meantime, our partners at the Heritage Volunteering Group (HVG) are running a workshop all about how you can start thinking more like a marketer to strengthen your volunteer recruitment and engagement.
During the session, you’ll explore how to craft clear and compelling messages to promote your volunteering opportunities.
It will be led by Matthew Hick, HVG Chair and Head of Volunteering for the Science Museum Group.

AVM Advanced Leadership Series: Leading Leaders – Coaching and Developing Volunteer Managers

This event will cover:
- The role of leadership strategies/approaches and their relationship to coaching and other development activities.
- Reviewing and applying coaching principles and techniques to foster volunteer management development.
