In our first episode, we welcome Nicola Ward and Ian Turnbull from Willowbrook Hospice. Chris, Ian, and Nicola talk all things volunteering, criminal checks, and how the TeamKinetic system has streamlined their work.

Willowbrook Hospice is a specialist palliative care unit based in Prescot providing quality care and support for our patients, their families and the community. They’ve been TeamKinetic users for a few years now and provide great insight into the current challenges hospices face.


In our second episode, we chat to Abi Froud from The Pankhurst Trust. Chris and Abi talk about the amazing work done by Manchester Women’s Aid within The Pankhurst Trust.

The Pankhurst Trust brings together Manchester Women’s Aid and The Pankhurst Centre. They work together to ensure the powerful story of the women who won the vote continues to inspire us all to challenge gender inequality, and to ensure that those suffering from domestic violence and abuse get the confidential help they need.


In our third episode, Ruth Leonard – Chair of AVM (Association of Volunteer Managers) joins Chris to talk about the world of volunteer management, Ruth’s career journey, and the importance of great leadership. 

The Association of Volunteer Managers (AVM) is an independent membership body that aims to support, represent and champion people in volunteer management in the UK regardless of field, discipline or sector. It has been set up by and for people who manage volunteers.


In our fourth episode, we revisit the Association of Volunteer Managers (AVM). This time, Chris chats to Andy Broomhead. Andy is Head of Volunteering at Diabetes UK, and on the Board of Directors at AVM.

Chris and Andy discuss how he got into his current roles, the challenges he’s faced (both as head of volunteering and as a volunteer himself), and navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. 


In our fifth and final episode of season 1, we chat to Claire Troup – Project Manager at Manchester City Council’s Volunteer Inspire Programme (MCRVIP). Claire talked about her previous roles within the council, how her current role compares, and also offered some advice for any volunteer managers out there.
