How to effectively promote COVID-19 volunteering

TeamKinetic have added an entirely new set of roles and functions we call COMMUNITY TASKS to help our customers get volunteers to those people that need it most in the community. There is also an associated app for mobile!

https://teamkinetic.co.uk/blog/2020/04/08/faq-new-covid-features/

Communities across the country are already starting to rally in support of each other during this pandemic.

We’ve put together a video and step-by-step instructions below showing how to promote your COVID-19 related opportunities.

1 – Add tags and descriptions to your COVID-19 related opportunities.

In order for volunteers to find COVID-19 related opportunities you will need to have a way of identifying those opportunities in the system. You can do this by either making sure the opportunity title includes a key words like; covid, virus, corona, or pandemic, or add the words as TAGS to the opportunity.

Either of these solutions will allow the system and volunteers to be able to search and find the related opportunities via the normal search bar.

When you login you’ll find your custom search link in the COVID-19 notification bar. You can distribute this link via email and on your social media posts and when clicked will go straight to the COVID-19 search results.

2 – Add An Event Called COVID-19

An event is just a group of opportunities which have something in common.  By adding a specific event name, that event will show at the top of the volunteers search results.

To use this method you will need to create an event called ‘COVID-19’ and EDIT your opportunities and mark them as PART OF A LARGER EVENT

3 – Email all volunteers about COVID-19 related opportunities

We have added a button at the top the dashboard when you login as admin:

This button will automatically email your volunteers a list of all virus related opportunities (email shown below).

If you would like to only email specific volunteers then you can email the special link shown when you login as administrator.

When clicked this link will go to the COVID-19 search results.

Stay safe.

Press Release: 12/02/2020 The Student Room

TeamKinetic and The Student Room work to make student life better

TeamKinetic becomes the new supplier to The Student Room

The Student Room (TSR) is the UK’s largest online student community.  It exists to provide every student from GCSE to the world of work with peer-led online support. The Student Room community allows students to support each other,  as they fully believe that the people best placed to offer support are those who are going through or have recently come out the other side of the student experience.

Mhairi Underwood, Head of Community at The Student Room, has been working with TeamKinetic over the last year. Testing the TeamKinetic volunteer management application, to see if a digital platform would improve the support of volunteers in the organisation, and improve workflows for staff.

Since February 2019, TeamKinetic has been supplying its volunteer management application to TSR as part of a pilot, to explore how a digital volunteer management application might provide added value to TSR’s volunteers and staff. TSR has a dedicated team of volunteers across the UK and around the world, providing peer-based support via its online forums.  We are proud to announce that based on the success of this pilot project, TeamKinetic will be continuing to work with TSR, developing their volunteer workforce and supporting their development as a student-first organisation.

Mhairi said “We’ve found that by adopting TeamKinetic as our in-house volunteer management platform, we’re able to completely streamline our volunteer administration in a way that provides both us and the volunteers with control and trust. Once it was embedded, we were able to focus much more fully on the things that really made a difference for our volunteers and our community, knowing the administration was taken care of.”

Chris Martin, Director of TeamKinetic, said “The Student Room is a unique organisation, which provides a wealth of services to young people, they know their audience and the importance of digital in engaging that audience and we love that! Working with them during the initial pilot stage to enhance their volunteer program and support the amazing work they do has been a real pleasure. I look forward to seeing how the offer develops over the next 12 months.”

TeamKinetic hopes to continue to build better volunteering communities throughout many different organisations, no matter how big or small.

TeamKinetic and the Sport and Recreation Alliance announce corporate partnership

sport and rec alliance

It is a great pleasure to announce that TeamKinetic and the Sport and Recreation Alliance are working together as corporate partners. TeamKinetic are committed to building the world’s finest sports and leisure volunteer platform and see working with the team at the Sport and Rec Alliance as key to achieving that objective.

fp-slide5

The Sport and Recreation Alliance is the umbrella organisation for the governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation in the UK and represents 320 members – organisations like The FA, the Rugby Football Union, UK Athletics, the Ramblers, British Rowing and the Exercise, Movement and Dance Partnership.

fp-slide2

Their role as a trade association is to speak up on behalf of its members, representing their views and providing them with services which make their lives easier. Volunteers often play such an important role in this process and we hope that TeamKinetic will support this work.

What does the Sport and Recreation Alliance do?

Its members are the governing bodies of sport and recreation. Their job is to run their sport or activity, promote participation and set the rules and conditions under which it takes place.

The SRA’s job is to make that job as easy as possible, representing their views to people who make decisions;  promoting the interests of sport and recreation so that as many people as possible know about their work; they campaign on issues affecting our members.

TeamKinetic shares many of the values and beliefs about the importance of Sport within our society and we hope that this partnership will see a lasting legacy for Volunteers and clubs across the UK for years to come.

TeamKinetic to become the volunteer platform for Greater Manchester.

GreaterSport

It is with great pleasure that TeamKinetic can announce they are now the volunteer platform for Greater Sport. Working with the County Sports Partnership to extend our hugely successful work with Manchester City Council. Greater Sport requested a volunteer service that offered the people of Greater Manchester more choice whilst allowing the Local Authorities a level of local administration and control.

As a County Sports Partnership, Greater Sport had identified how successful Manchester City Council had been in recruiting and deploying Volunteers both for their clubs and their major events program. They identified how as a CSP area volunteers could benefit from seamless sharing of volunteer opportunities across the Local Authorities whilst also providing the level of local insight demanded by the ten local authorities of Greater Manchester.

This did pose a number of major technical challenges, as each Local Authority had different requirements and were able to offer significantly different levels of support to their volunteers. TeamKinetic worked closely with GreaterSport to develop a workable solution and we are proud to announce our Pilot volunteer platform project is up and running with plans for a much wider rollout early into the new year.

It is ours and Greater Sport’s belief, that this new volunteer platform will allow the generous and sports-mad people of Greater Manchester to access some of the finest events and clubs the UK has to offer.

Join In and ITV use TeamKinetic to power their volunteer recruitment for World Cup event fever pitch.

fever pitch

250 volunteers have contributed more than 5000 volunteering hours in 25 World Cup days.

London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic legacy charity Join In have been working with ITV to provide volunteer support for their major summer of sport.

‘Fever Pitch’ is ITV’s flagship World Cup community programme, using the power of their coverage from Brazil, alongside some of the world’s finest international beach soccer teams to inspire more than 2,000 kids and community members from around Manchester to be active this summer.

ITV have brought a flavour of Copacabana to the old Granada Studios with a 3,000 capacity arena, samba dancing and a real beach right in the middle of the city.

Join In are the home of the London 2012 ‘Games Makers’ and their volunteers have a reputation for making grassroots sports events extra special. Supporting local children and young people during the day get a taste of playing on the beach and then in the evening bringing the Brazil in spirit to life.

As the event is running for 25 days, it required lots of motivated volunteers. Join In approached Manchester City Council who already have a very successful Volunteer program – the Manchester VSB – which is powered by TeamKinetic.

TeamKinetic worked with Join In to build an area of the VSB that allowed them to recruit and manage their Volunteers, using social media and an SMS campaign to recruit over 250 individuals in less than one month.

Dom Streeter Head of Campaigns at Join In said:

“We’d like to extend a huge thanks to TeamKinetic. Chris and his team have been superb to work with on this project – reliable, helpful and on hand with valuable local insight. Most importantly, they have delivered, in what was a very short turnaround time.

The 250 volunteers recruited have helped us power ITV Fever Pitch and the many thousands who’ve attended this event have had a wonderful experience because of their enthusiasm, dedication and sense of fun.”
