Volunteer Inductions – The Good, The Bad and What They Could Be
January 29th, 2026 | 9:30am – 11:30am | £27.00 – £43.00
Our partners at AVM are hosting a session on how to design effective, engaging volunteer inductions that set people up for success from day one.
The session will explore what truly makes a good induction, how to secure senior leadership buy-in, and practical steps for developing an induction package that feels welcoming, purposeful and volunteer-centred.
Attendees will also hear case studies from two charities that have recently overhauled their approach, sharing the impact and lessons learned.
Speakers include Karen Gurney (Volunteer Development and Experience Manager at Oxfam) and Dan Smith (Volunteering Development Manager at Noah’s Ark).
AVM members can get discounted tickets, but if you’re not a member, don’t worry! Anyone interested can join the AVM to gain access to this event along with a range of other member-only benefits.
HVG Event: Pathways to Progression
January 9th, 2026 | 10am – 12pm | Online
The Heritage Volunteering Group is running a great career development workshop in January. The session will focus on practical pathways for career progression. From Volunteer Coordinator through to Head of Volunteering, both within the heritage sector and beyond.
Led by Tamsin Russell from the HVG Executive Board, the session utilises facilitated exercises, real-life career stories, and sector standards to help attendees identify gaps, strengthen their professional profile, and shape their development plans.
Light pre-engagement activities will be shared ahead of the workshop, and you don’t need to have attended any previous HVG careers sessions to take part. The event is not recorded, and a short comfort break is included.
As always, the HVG events programme is proudly sponsored by TeamKinetic. Not a member? No problem, you can sign up easily via the event page.
