TeamKinetic News and Events

TeamKinetic Conference Roundup

We had a great time at our conference last month! It was fantastic to see so many of you there.

The sessions focused on what comes after volunteer recruitment. From reward and recognition, to reporting and the future of digital in volunteering.

We heard from…

Gethyn Williams on five key trends in volunteering and where digital might help. From AI to open data and national online recruitment platforms, Gethyn covered some interesting stuff.

Next, we had sessions from Amy Cole from Tempo and Andrew Newman from the ODI.

Andrew shared how better data and AI could shape the future of volunteering. He explored how open standards and shared infrastructure can connect communities, improve volunteer matching, and create more meaningful volunteer experiences.

Meanwhile, Amy introduced the Tempo Time Credit Programme, showing how volunteers earn and spend credits to recognise their contributions and build stronger communities. She highlighted Tempo’s growing network of partners across Wales and England and shared inspiring stories of how time credits improve wellbeing and bring people together.

After lunch, we had some great sessions on measuring volunteer impact from Joanne Irvine, and Will Watt (State of Life).

Will explored the economic and behavioural science behind volunteering, showing how it boosts wellbeing, community trust, and social value. He discussed the GIVERS model of volunteer motivation and how behavioural insights, like simple nudges and gratitude, can enhance engagement.

Joanne, on the other hand, discussed how organisations can boost volunteer retention and capture real social impact through storytelling and participatory evaluation. She highlighted her work with Glasgow Life, showing how involving volunteers in the process strengthens connections and aligns their work with organisational goals.

Into the final stretch now, and after a quick slot from Dr Helen Timbrell on her new course for Aspiring Heads of Volunteering (check it out!), we had our keynote from Tobi Johnson and Ruth Leonard.

Tobi and Ruth compared volunteer management to gardening – yes you read that right! They showed how adaptability, collaboration, and care help volunteers flourish. With practical tips on creating supportive environments, aligning goals, and embracing diversity. They highlighted how, like a healthy garden, a strong volunteer culture grows through nurturing and consistency.

The latest TeamKinetic Updates and what’s next

We’ve had a few big updates this year, but it doesn’t stop there. At our conference, we went through all the latest updates and touched on some exciting things in the pipeline…

The new stuff coming to a TeamKinetic system near you includes:

  • One Opp, Everywhere: Multiple locations for each opportunity, plus a special details page to find the right location
  • Better Access Control: Granular admin permissions, no more trusted providers required!
  • Flows: Free-form, customisable processes and workflows that can be attached to onboarding and opportunity joining. Basically Roles…but more!

Digital in Volunteering Toolkit – Community of Practice

The Community of Practice is in full swing now. Our members have full access to all resources, including the Digital in Volunteering Toolkit and our event recordings.

Our first event took a deep dive into Marketing, Communications, Connectivity, and Interoperability in volunteering, while our second explored Reimagining Reward and Recognition with Digital.

You can catch the recordings on the CoP website, here.
(Joining as a member is free!)

The Next CoP Event

At our next event, on Wednesday 14th January, we’ll be taking a look at AI in Volunteering. We’re still fleshing out the contents for this and confirming speakers but for now, you can secure tickets here.

We’re back with another webinar! This time, our focus is on hospices and volunteering.

We’re thrilled to be joined by three incredible speakers:

  • Ian Turnbull – Willowbrook Hospice
  • Andrea Thorogood – Haven House Children’s Hospice
  • Rachel Tilly – Wigan and Leigh Hospice

They’ll be sharing their first-hand experiences of managing volunteers, and how TeamKinetic’s tools help them stay organised, save time, and make a bigger impact.

We’ll wrap up with a Q&A session, so you’ll have the chance to ask questions and take away practical insights for your own hospice.
