Guest Masterclass: Evaluating What Matters
Exploring how to capture and showcase social value beyond the pound
This month, we have a special edition of the TeamKinetic midweek masterclass. Joanne Irvine, a social designer with a background in international development cooperation, will be taking charge of this special guest masterclass!
The session will explore how a collaborative approach to design – focusing on aspects such as joy, connection, and confidence – can help us better understand the genuine impact of projects that support well-being and social inclusion.
We’ll hear insights from research by Joanne Irvine on the social impact of a Glasgow Life volunteer programme. The session will be hands-on, with plenty of chances to get involved and reflect on how the third and public sectors can take a more people-focused approach to measuring social impact.
You can read her guest blog for more insight into the session and her experience in the sector.
TeamKinetic users can register for masterclasses via your system – Help & Support → Extra Training.
If you’re not a TeamKinetic user, you can secure tickets for free here.
Digital in Volunteering Toolkit & Community of Practice
Last year, we launched the Digital in Volunteering Toolkit – something we developed alongside Gethyn Williams and our partners at the Association of Volunteer Managers. It covers everything volunteer leaders and managers need to know when embracing digital in their roles. You can find out more and download the Toolkit itself via this link.
We’re also excited to kick off the Community of Practice. This is a space for volunteer managers and leaders to:
- Access – hear about future Toolkit updates and related training opportunities.
- Learn – share digital knowledge and experiences with their peers.
- Influence – bring our collective voice together to advocate for our needs in digital technology.
We’ll be hosting a series of monthly events, starting in May, to take a deep dive into connectivity and interoperability and how this relates to using digital in our marketing and communications.
As well as a first opportunity to see and access new Toolkit content, these monthly online launches will bring together knowledgeable guests from across the world of volunteering. They’ll be sharing their digital experiences. Booking links will be available soon, but you can save the dates now:
- 22nd May: Connectivity, Interoperability, Marketing and Communications – featuring case studies from The Big Help Out and a look ahead to Volunteers’ Week. Guests: George Grima (DoIt), Jess Young (Volunteer Centre Greenwich), Nicola Gower (Volunteers’ Week).
- 19th June: Reward and Recognition – exploring digitally-based incentive schemes.
- 17th July: Digital for Infrastructure – how networks and membership bodies can use digital better to serve the front line in volunteering.
We’d love for you to join us. You can sign up for the community of practice and get your hands on part one of the toolkit here.
TeamKinetic App Update
We’re pleased to let you know that the latest update to our mobile apps is ready for launch. It’s packed with improvements that make things much more in line with the desktop version.
You can now do things like view and manage HourTrades, access all your resources (links, text, downloads, etc), and enjoy a smoother opportunity search with paged results. You’ll also see opportunity badges more clearly, and all your HTML formatting in descriptions now shows properly on mobile, too. We’ve fixed the chat room visibility issue and made over 35 other tweaks and fixes to polish things up.
Read more about it in this blog post.
