New Blog: Volunteering for War Child – A Brits Week Experience

At TeamKinetic, we’re always excited to see great volunteer programmes in action! Recently, Barb had the chance to support War Child in their series of Brit Week gigs. She got to experience first-hand how they engage volunteers to make a real impact.

You can read all about her day in Glasgow here.

From selling merchandise to encouraging donations, Barb and the other War Child volunteers played a key role in raising vital funds for children affected by conflict. The week of volunteering was well-organised, welcoming, and a great example of how to create meaningful volunteer experiences.

You can keep an eye out for future volunteering opportunities with War Child here.

Digital in Volunteering Toolkit & Community of Practice

Last year we launched the Digital in Volunteering Toolkit – something we developed alongside Gethyn Williams and our partners at the Association of Volunteer Managers. It covers everything volunteer leaders and managers need to know when embracing digital in their roles. You can find out more and download the Toolkit itself via this link.

We’re also excited to kick off something we call the Community of Practice. This is a space for volunteer managers and leaders to:

  • Access – hear about future Toolkit updates and related training opportunities.
  • Learn – share digital knowledge and experiences with their peers
  • Influence – bring our collective voice together to advocate for our needs in digital technology

We’ll be hosting a series of monthly events, starting in May, to take a deep dive into connectivity and interoperability and how this relates to using digital in our marketing and communications.

As well as a first opportunity to see and access new Toolkit content, these monthly online launches will bring together knowledgeable guests from across the world of volunteering. They’ll be sharing their digital experiences. Booking links will be available soon, but you can save the dates now:

  • 22nd May: Connectivity, Interoperability, Marketing and Communications – featuring case studies from The Big Help Out and a look ahead to Volunteers’ Week. Guests: George Grima (DoIt), Jess Young (Volunteer Centre Greenwich), Nicola Gower (Volunteers’ Week) and others TBC.
  • 19th June: Reward and Recognition – exploring digitally-based incentive schemes.
  • 17th July: Digital for Infrastructure – how networks and membership bodies can use digital better to serve the front line in volunteering.

We’d love for you to join us. You can sign up for the community of practice and get your hands on part one of the toolkit here.

TeamKinetic 2.6.0 Major Release

We had previously planned for the latest major update, TeamKinetic 2.6.0, to be ready at the end of March and to also have our mobile app update released at the same time. However, we were sad to recently hear about a bereavement in the team at Yalla Cooperative – our collaborators on the TeamKinetic App.

Out of respect for the team at Yalla, and to give them the time they need to come together in the face of this loss, we will be delaying this TeamKinetic update. We hope you will all understand. We send all our condolences to everyone at Yalla Cooperative. They are a team we have greatly enjoyed working with so far, and hope to enjoy working with again when the time is right.

We’ll keep everyone updated with this update, but you can take a look at what to expect when it arrives in this blog.

Slice and Dice your Volunteers: How to Use Groups for Effective Control and Management
Wednesday 4th June, 10:00am – 11:30am

Join Steve in this session on using Volunteer Groups in TeamKinetic. He covers everything you need to know about using groups – from creating them to how you can use them to manage your volunteers even more effectively.

Volunteer groups are a great function and our customers have used them in all sorts of novel ways. From producing more targeted comms to restricting opportunities, groups are possibly an underused and underrated feature! Are you using them to the best of their ability? Do you need some support with them? Come along to this masterclass and become a master of grouping your volunteers.

You can see all upcoming training sessions and masterclasses within your system by going to Help & Support → Extra Training.

We’re also always looking for new topics to cover in these Masterclasses. If there’s anything regarding the TeamKinetic system that you’re not quite sure on, you can suggest it and we’ll add it to our list of topics to cover.

Please email alex@teamkinetic.co.uk with the subject ‘Masterclass Suggestion’, or use the live chat function on our website to pop in and suggest it there.
