DCMS invests £600,000 into Vision for Volunteering

The Vision for Volunteering movement, led by NAVCA, NCVO, Volunteering Matters, the Association of Volunteer Managers and Sport England, is a 10-year initiative supported by more than 300 charities.

Funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) could be instrumental in achieving the Vision’s aim: to make England the best place in the world to be a volunteer by 2032.

The investment has allowed them to build a specialist staff team, including a project lead, a network and engagement officer, and a learning and storytelling officer.

Rob Jackson recently posted a great article reflecting on a piece from Catherine Wearden at Agenda Consulting. Rob reflects on her findings, delving into what they could tell us about volunteer engagement and Volunteer Involving Organisations. Rob’s piece outlines key differences in important areas such as whistleblowing, performance, feedback, problem-solving, and more. You can read Rob’s article here.

The new Arsenal FC shirt only being offered to volunteers

‘No More Red’ is a campaign from Arsenal and Adidas. It aims to tackle the root causes of youth violence and provide safe spaces and more opportunities for local young people.
As part of the initiative, they created a new completely white shirt worn by Arsenal players in their FA cup game against Oxford United. These shirts can only be obtained by the volunteers and organisations working towards the No More Red goal, they cannot be purchased by fans.
