TeamKinetic and the Sport and Recreation Alliance announce corporate partnership

sport and rec alliance

It is a great pleasure to announce that TeamKinetic and the Sport and Recreation Alliance are working together as corporate partners. TeamKinetic are committed to building the world’s finest sports and leisure volunteer platform and see working with the team at the Sport and Rec Alliance as key to achieving that objective.

The Sport and Recreation Alliance is the umbrella organisation for the governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation in the UK and represents 320 members – organisations like The FA, the Rugby Football Union, UK Athletics, the Ramblers, British Rowing and the Exercise, Movement and Dance Partnership.

Their role as a trade association is to speak up on behalf of its members, representing their views and providing them with services which make their lives easier. Volunteers often play such an important role in this process and we hope that TeamKinetic will support this work.

What does the Sport and Recreation Alliance do?

Its members are the governing bodies of sport and recreation. Their job is to run their sport or activity, promote participation and set the rules and conditions under which it takes place.

The SRA’s job is to make that job as easy as possible, representing their views to people who make decisions;  promoting the interests of sport and recreation so that as many people as possible know about their work; they campaign on issues affecting our members.

TeamKinetic shares many of the values and beliefs about the importance of Sport within our society and we hope that this partnership will see a lasting legacy for Volunteers and clubs across the UK for years to come.

Sports Volunteering Conference is a huge success for TeamKinetic and Manchester Metropolitan University

It is with a huge sense of pride we are happy to announce the Sports Volunteering Conference run in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University is to return again next year. This year’s event was a real pleasure to be involved in and although we have learned some really useful lessons for the next event, we are already planning and looking forward.

The day was filled with positive stories about how Volunteering and the volunteers themselves make such a difference to events, organisations, and everyday sports people.  Hearing from a wide range of speakers who shared their experiences on the Olympics, the Commonwealth Games, Universities and just about everything else in between was really inspiring.

The conference was also an opportunity to pose some difficult questions that as Volunteer organisers and and strategic planners we need to look at.  It was clear that there is a real need for greater insight and understanding about what motivates volunteers, are there different types of volunteers and how we get our clubs to better engage with a wider Volunteer workforce.

Over the next few days we will be releasing some more notes on the event and the slides that were used by the presenters so please feel free to share and use as you require, and I look forward to seeing you all at our next event in 2015.

MMU announce partnership with TeamKinetic for inaugural Volunteering in Sport conference

Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) Business School have announced that they will be running an inaugural conference on the management of Sports Volunteering in partnership with TeamKinetic.

The conference titled Turning Potential into Legacy has been planned for September 10th 2014. Although we are not yet able to announce a full lineup of speakers, we can confirm a fabulous venue.

The conference is aimed at organisations and individuals who have a role in recruiting, managing and deploying volunteers as well as those with a strategic view of volunteer development.

Catherine Elliott – Senior Lecturer, MMU Sports Management said:

“We want to create a place where volunteering can be examined and debated in a professional manner. We want to start the conversation to examine the role of the Volunteer so we can start to evaluate the value and potential. We want it to reflect the dynamism of the volunteer space, with practical workshops and lots of real-world experience being discussed.

MMU have been using TeamKinetic for years and in this time, have seen a huge increase in student participation in work placements and volunteering.

Steve Mansfield, Principal Lecturer, Department of Management said:

“From the Manchester Commonwealth Games legacy through to London 2012, the rise of the Volunteer phenomenon is something (from a business perspective) which needs further examination. We wanted to look at the value if people giving their time and it’s potential as a disruptive force.”

Manchester Colour Run a success with help from TeamKinetic

Colour Run

Manchester VSB have successfully used TeamKinetic to promote and manage the Colour Run, a huge event in Manchester that requires hundreds of volunteers.

The Colour Run is a popular and fun event in Manchester that takes a lot of planning and as a community run event requires lots of volunteers. By using VolunteerKinetic to set up various volunteer opportunities Manchester Council was able to fill their volunteer requirements easily.

All the volunteers knew exactly what they would be doing and where they need to be on the day.

Find out more about the colour run and maybe join in next year.
