You can <a href=\"https:\/\/teamkinetic.co.uk\/blog\/2022\/06\/22\/introducing-isabella\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">get to know Isabella by reading her first blog here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;re also saying goodbye to Katie, who&#8217;s spent the last 12 months here with us on placement! She&#8217;s given us a few words, to sum up how the past year has been&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The last 12 months have flown by, and I can&#8217;t thank everyone at TeamKinetic enough for giving me the opportunity to get some experience under my belt. <br><br>It&#8217;s been amazing to speak to some of you and see the development of TeamKinetic over the past year. I&#8217;ve felt very lucky to be able to attend events within the sector and I can&#8217;t wait to see how TeamKinetic develops along with the sector as a whole. <br><br>There&#8217;s a number of things in the pipeline at TK, and while I still have the chance to talk as part of the team &#8211; we&#8217;re only on the up!<\/p>\n<cite>Katie<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>We wish Katie the best of luck in her final year at university and beyond!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--nextpage-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Formal Volunteering Hours Fall<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Latest figures from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/statistical-data-sets\/dcms-community-life-survey-ad-hoc-statistical-releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department for Digital, Culture, Media &amp; Sport<\/a> show that the total number of hours spent volunteering formally dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Formal volunteering is defined as giving unpaid help through groups, clubs, or organisations. Whereas informal volunteering is any kind of unpaid help given to individuals who are not relatives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of hours spent completing formal volunteer work in 2019\/20 were 1.2 billion. On the other hand, this reduced to 700 million in 2020\/21. This is a decrease of over 40%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it doesn&#8217;t tell the whole story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here at <a href=\"https:\/\/teamkinetic.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TeamKinetic<\/a> we saw first-hand the impact of volunteers during the pandemic. While it wasn&#8217;t possible for them to volunteer formally, they definitely helped out in their local communities in a way that was inspiring to see. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/a-look-at-volunteering-during-the-response-to-covid-19\/a-look-at-volunteering-during-the-response-to-covid-19#informal-volunteering\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Figures show<\/a> that 47% of people in the UK informally volunteered during the pandemic. 52% of those volunteers were helping people affected by COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/teamkinetic.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/ismael-paramo-Cns0h4ypRyA-unsplash-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Volunteers packing food parcels. Do people prefer the freedom that comes with informal volunteering?
