The election will be taking place on the 4th of July &#8211; around 4 weeks away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncvo.org.uk\/get-involved\/general-election-2024\/?utm_source=teamkinetic&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=teamkinetic_newsletter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">See more here.<\/a><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Charities react to Conservative Party\u2019s volunteering \u2018national service\u2019 proposal<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you see the Tories&#8217; proposal to create a mandatory &#8216;National Service&#8217; for young people in the UK if they retain power in July? The idea is that 18-year-olds would be forced to take part in &#8216;volunteering&#8217; or military service. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposal has understandably raised concerns, but what does it mean for the third sector?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarah Vibert, NCVO Chief Executive, noted that it would have been more beneficial for the Conservative party to discuss this proposal with voluntary organisations before announcing it. The course aimed to encourage men to build social networks while taking part in activities such as hiking or woodwork. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scheme creates a safe space for men to open up while completing activities and has been a success. While the course with the first group is coming to an end, WWT are linking participants up with future volunteering opportunities within the organisation so they can keep benefitting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>My life is challenging, but this session is the highlight of my week, I think about it during the rest of the week. I want to make a plan for things to do after the group ends, e.g. volunteering outdoors.
