As with any generation, the differences not only between generations but within generations cannot be ignored. The awards celebrate the very best of Scotland&#8217;s vibrant voluntary sector and&nbsp;are a perfect way to highlight the positive impact being made by your organisation, staff and volunteers! As part of her degree, she is researching the factors that impact volunteer motivation and retention. She has created a short questionnaire that she would like to distribute to as many volunteers as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you could share it with your volunteers that would be very much appreciated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The short questionnaire should take no more than five minutes to complete and can be accessed via this link: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.soscisurvey.de\/VMR\/\">https:\/\/www.soscisurvey.de\/VMR\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NCVO&#8217;s Road Ahead Report 2023<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ncvo-app-wagtail-mediaa721a567-uwkfinin077j.s3.amazonaws.com\/images\/Road_Ahead_2023_blue_block.2e16d0ba.fill-390x220.png\" alt=\"NCVO | NCVO\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>NCVO recently launched their annual foresight publication which explores the trends, challenges and opportunities facing the voluntary sector for the year ahead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report predicts volunteer recruitment, valuing volunteers, and flexible opportunities as key things to look out for in the coming year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncvo.org.uk\/news-and-insights\/news-index\/road-ahead-2023-supporting-staff-trustees-volunteers\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Give the full report a read here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exploring approaches to age-friendly inclusive volunteering<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest NCVO Almanac reported that in 2020\/21 people aged 65-74 were the most likely age group to formally volunteer. 22% volunteered at least once a month and 32% at least once a year. This was down from 31% and 40% respectively from the previous year, prior to the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In less than 20 years one in four people in England will be over 65, and older people\u2019s lives will be increasingly complex. They have identified the following barriers to older people volunteering.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ncvo-app-wagtail-mediaa721a567-uwkfinin077j.s3.amazonaws.com\/images\/Barriers_to_age_friendly_and_inclusive_volunt.width-1000.png\" alt=\"Practical, structural and emotional barriers to age friendly and inclusive volunteering. Identified by the Centre for Aging Better.\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>From their findings, NCVO has identified five key principles for age-friendly inclusive volunteering:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connect and listen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus on what matters to people<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Play to people\u2019s strengths<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove barriers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be flexible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Charities launch huge volunteering drive around King\u2019s coronation<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thebighelpout.org.uk\/img\/bho.png\" alt=\"The Big Help Out\" width=\"200\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>A range of major charities and third-sector organisations have officially launched a huge volunteering drive that will take place over the weekend of King Charles III&#8217;s coronation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;The Big Help Out&#8217; campaign aims to showcase how volunteering benefits local communities and the volunteers themselves.
