Wellbeing is an increasingly hot topic – and for good reason. Keeping your volunteers happy and healthy is a vital part of any volunteer management role. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s important to note that the pandemic not only took a toll on people\u2019s mental health, but also disrupted the relevant public health services on offer. Now, they’re continuing to struggle with ongoing demand. Any support you can offer your volunteers in this area could be vital and really make a difference to their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But you can get in touch with local organisations. Try your local churches, shelters, and charities to see if there’s anything you can do to help out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2021, Crisis<\/strong>‘ 1,860 dedicated volunteers provided hotel accommodation, hub services, food and wellbeing packs for around 2,000 people who were experiencing homelessness at Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Crisis Christmas volunteer opportunities are now live and can be found on their website<\/a>. Volunteering with Crisis means providing meaningful and compassionate services to guests, helping them enjoy the holiday. This might involve making deliveries, helping in the kitchen, or providing entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Salvation Army<\/strong> are currently looking for volunteer helpers to get involved with all kinds of activities for their many community charity shops \u2013 which are particularly busy in the run-up to Christmas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Check out the link here<\/a> or go into one of our shops to find out more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Age UK<\/strong>‘s local branches may be operating on Christmas Day, so get in touch and see what\u2019s available, either by getting in touch directly or going to their website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They also have a Telephone Friendship Service that runs on Christmas Day. However, they ask that volunteers commit to a year of volunteering and call once a week. This is because demand for the service is rising, with Age UK saying it needs volunteers \u201cmore than ever before\u201d. However, it seems some corporations just aren’t getting their employees involved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n So what’s stopping them? It could be anything, from having difficulty aligning the organisation’s goals with a charity\/non-profit. Maybe they just aren’t looking due to being too busy, or perhaps they just don’t know where to find volunteering opportunities for their employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With almost half of people saying they’d like to use skills they develop at work to help their communities, there’s clearly some demand there!
